The Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis
In the early 1950s, Dr. Josep Antoni Grifols i Lucas perfected and systematized the technique of plasmapheresis. This procedure was a revolutionary innovation for Grifols and paved the way for an entire industry of blood plasma-based medicines, which the company now dominates.
As an extension of the its long history of continuous improvement and strong commitment to education, the company formed the Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis. The Academy launched in 2009 to train employees in specific disciplines related to the plasma industry. The Academy offers standardized educational programs, including technical training, while emphasizing Grifols’ fundamental standards of quality and ethics.
The Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis offers advanced training related to plasma science that drives plasmapheresis procedures; the collection, analysis and control of plasma; testing; logistics; and the ethical, safety and quality standards that regulate human health business practices.
